Giraffe #1 / Giraffe #2

EDIT: I won!

{click to enlarge - and to read the poetry!}

This is Melman on holiday in the Isle of Wight. He's found a pirate ship and is rather excited.

I have chosen to use a couple of short verses about giraffes by Spike Milligan. I love Spike's verses, some of the only poetry I can actually recite from memory!

And here's my reasoning on my hidden journalling.

Project 12 - February

As usual, I'm having photo-taking difficulties, it's getting boring! Still, I'm continuing to plonk them onto the radiator by the door and getting as much light onto them as possible.

Think I might stop fretting about it!

February was about John taking Melman to America with him and my Mum and I having some fun on day trips around Cambridge. We didn't celebrate old Hallmark-Valentine's, we stayed in and had Chinese food because it was also New Year (of the Tiger). John bought a cake stand and the Winter Olympics were on in Vancouver.

Although we didn't really do Valentines, I have chosen to use Valentine's papers on this layout. These are the latest ones from My Minds Eye and were part of the February Gotta Craft Kit.

Also included a flyer from the Cathedral in Bury (luckily it's the same colour as these papers!) and the train ticket from our trip to London (which doesn't match!).

Twisted Sketches #38

The Twist this week was for "stripes", which I've done. I'm not happy with the way this came out. I wasn't fond of the huge expanses of patterned paper, so I doodled some swirls on in gold pen. Of course, you can't even see it in the picture and it's not very clear in real life either!

The picture is yet another from Road Trip 08 (they keep coming!). This is the cabin in the woods, the nice-on-paper Jacob Lake.

Sketchy Thursdays - 2.18

No papers on this one, just a lot of paintwork. I love my little butterfly (even if I do say so myself!) it's very cute in real life.
I had a sudden craving last week to make some Halloweeny layouts!

The papers on this are mostly the ones that I brought back from the shop in Tucson! I've really been stroking them for far too long!

The pumpkin we carved last year - spooky!

Sketchy Thursdays 2.25

Today I found some natural light to take these pictures... on top of the radiator by the back door! Not too bad for a really rainy day. On the other hand, you still can't see all the gold dots on the chipboard very well. Still, getting better!

I wasn't expecting it, but this is the February Kit from Sarah's Cards.

Totes

Today I found a set of pink totes in The Works for only £5.99. They won't last me forever as they aren't the best quality items on the planet, but for the amount of use they'll get (not a lot!) they're perfect.

I now just need to decide how many of them are coming to next weeks Retreat with me. The "large tote" and "medium tote" might actually be good enough to put my clothes in as well as stash. The "Beading & Tool Tote" (their words, not mine) may live up to its name and take my tools...

That leaves me with "Small Tote", "Knitting Tote" and "Sewing Purse"!

Of course, as none of them have wheels I may end up taking my suitcase and being forced to leave them all behind!

Pencil Lines 174

Not done a Pencil Line for a while. Still not getting good shots of my layouts. :( There has to be a way round this... Anyway, this is Albuquerque, Old Town, featuring a bunch of chillis.

Mojo Jar - February Dip

My February inter-team team was "Scrap a Favourite Holiday" from Janet. So, of course, I went for a photo from my Road Trip!

The Corsair at Pima has its wings up, which is a bit of a shame, but I took it's picture anyway.

Gotta Craft Kit

I treated myself to the latest Gotta Craft Kit this month and as soon as it arrived I ripped right into it! Decided to scrap pictures of Melman as he deserves papers covered with hearts.

This one is Melman at Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight. I even gave in and used one of the big homemade buttons that my teamie Sue made. Oh, and the orange ribbon came from teamie Janet. So I am getting some hoarded stash used up.

I used a sketch for this, but as I'm currently playing catch-up I have no idea which one this was.

This one looks a whole lot better in real life and it even amused John. We had fun in Paris taking this picture. It really looked as if the statues were reacting to something down by their feet!

In used an old Sketchy Thursdays sketch for this.

Twisted Sketches #37

The Twist this week is Wood - so here's a layout featuring some wood!

I took this picture last year on a walk through Stockhill woods. I'm still having a problem finding somewhere well lit to take photos, so I'm trying this... shining a light on the layout and taking it form a distance! That does involve showing up some of the highly attractive background that is my scrapping area, but heyho!

I'm using my new flower punch on everything I do at the moment, I love it.

Latest weekly challenge entry. To include a heart, red and a song
title with Love in it. I've gone with a Paul Simon track.

Melman Gets Culture

Melman loves to travel and see new things. He's just come back from a trip to the States, but this was taken on the Isle of Wight last year.

The challenge this week was to include a touch of pink, some bling and old stash. This stash is old alright, it's my dodgy old K&Co!

Project 12 - January

{click to enlarge}

I've had to take the picture using John's easel as the weather has been awful and this is the only way to get it near a window! Still not a good photo though, sadly.

Left Side
Cupcake display in Bath.
My Mother drinking coffee in "Cafe Rene".
Hannah's unexpectedly huge dessert.

Right Side
My folks in the cafe in Malmesbury.
John's family gathering.
The toilet rolls my father insisted buying in bulk...
Hannah in Frenchay.

I took most of these with my iPhone and they haven't come out too badly. At some point I'll scrap that cupcake picture all by itself because it was so gorgeous.

The papers (Cosmo Cricket) were also new-to-me in January!
