Twisted Sketches #53

Now I'm back from my hols I can finally get back into doing the Twists each week.

I;m trying to do more layouts at sizes other than the standard 12x12 and I have a shiny new 8x8 album to fill, so here's one in 8x8:

The Twist this week is 'acrylic' so I chose to use bits of acrylic paint.

I'm currently on a crazy stamping / inking kick, so the background paper is an piece of cardstock in a garish blue. At least, it was before I covered it in bits of old ripped up book paper and ink (then some more layers of book and ink). The rest of the papers are all October Afternoon: Thrift Shop, in fact, the paper with the title on used to be bright yellow, but I'm a Crazy Inker!

Layouts from Today

Finally got some of the pictures back that I took of Alex in London. Really not impressed with the service from Snapfish, but at least they were free. The pictures aren't of the same quality that I've been getting from Photobox either. Shan't be straying from there now, freebies or not.

I'd bought myself a piece of this 3 Bugs paper because it features lions and giraffes. I'm still waiting for my giraffe stamp from Scrap Shed so I can use the giraffe strip. Of course, I'm still waiting for that as well and it's been over a month. Great. Somewhere else that won't be getting a return order.


This is the weekly challenge layout, not completely happy with it - probably should have deviated from the sketch a little bit more.

Just for Fun

Not made a layout for fun in a while. They're usually all UKS entries or part of a sketch challenge. This one is just me finally deciding to use up the last bits of the gorgeous Stomp.

Summer School 2009, tired out geology students at Hartley Bay looking at rocks.

Although I was using Stomp I had to add on the Archaic dinosaur that was one of the first things I embossed.

Twisted Sketches #42

The Twist this week is Flight. I guess this is technically "landing", but we were just flying. I'm in the basket with my mother and I think this is the early 90s, but I'm not too sure about the date. We're at the Lorraine Balloon Fiesta in Metz, France which is held every two years.

As I've just discovered the joys of Distress Inking and embossing I'm doing it on every layout that crosses my desk. I just need some more inks now as distressing with one does look a little odd.

Bunny Hunting Day of Green

The Green Day at the Colour Challenge. John goes hunting for rabbits at Forde Abbey in Dorest over Easter weekend. Thanks to his dilligence we won a creme egg!

Pensford

More catching up. My parents and I took a trip to Pensford - I think it was last year! - these are the layouts for that trip:

The tour bus - we had free cereal bars afterwards as Pensford is owned by Jordans, the cereal bar people.

I did these a couple of weeks ago, and then took the pictures last week, finally remembered to add them to my Blog!

This one is another of the Road Trip pictures. The ice box that we carted round with us for the fortnight and it kept our cheese cold.

Playing catch up with some old paper layouts that I've not uploaded. These are two from a ferry trip I went on in Scotland last year.

Spooky Halloween

Well, it's Halloween again! After I finished off my Balloony layout I decided it was time I finally scrapped the other couple of balloons that I had taken deliberate pictures of - the Witch and the Pumpkin - and if I was going to scrap them then I had to cut into some more of the Halloween papers that I bought in Tuscon.

This one is mainly made from Cosmo Cricket's Nevermore. I used scraps of it to make myself some matching bats. The skeletons and pumpkins are cut from Creative Imaginations Spooky Borders. The alphas are Doodlebug that I've coloured in to match.

Same as before, but this paper is Macabre. I originally tried putting Nevermore bats on Macabre and vice versa, but they looked odd. This way they look more spooky as they are flying against the same paper - well, I think so.

Vista & Kitty

{Loch Fyne, Scotland}

My take on the latest PencilLines sketch, #103. I really enjoyed this one as I got to use up so many bits and pieces that had been hanging around for ages - a random button, remnants of ribbon, Sassafrass scraps that I just can't bring myself to bin, the end of a white cotton reel (must buy more!), and finally alphas.

Alphas are darned tricky to use up towards the end of their lives, so I ran the letters than I had left through an anagram solver and one of the words it came up with was "Vista" - so I went with that. It also came up with "Tiramisu", which would, of course, have used up more letters, but as I had no Italian pudding pictures to hand I went with "Vista"!

As I was on a scrap-using roll, I made this from more bits of Sassafrass, odd buttons, old DCWV cardstock, and the same alpha set:


I think this is the last of my pictures of Nutmeg. Any others will be duplicates.

Made this for Pencil Lines #102. My Dad and OH in the Cambridge Botanical Garden. Used bits of Doodlebug, Crate Paper, Bazzill and Prima flowers.
