Scrap Map Saturday ~ Paris

The theme this week at Creative Craft World is one landscape photo.

Oh, good grief! This happened last week! I need a photo in a size that I haven't got and can't get. Well, I was all ready to chop down a 6x4 picture to make it more landscapey, when I realised that I always panic without thinking things through.

In the 1990s I had a camera that took landscape photos alongside normal photos (and another size that I can't recall). I wanted that camera. I loved that camera. My Dad said it was a silly camera and eventually I'd not be able to get the film for it or the novelty would wear off. He was right, of course! But before I gave up on my expensive toy I did take some landscape shots. I've not scrapped any of them before as I only have one copy of them and no idea what happened to the negatives.

So, here's my first layout using a truly landscape photo:


I pushed the landscapeyness even further by making it a 6x12 layout.

Almost chose a landscape shot of Grand Canyon, but I'm still loving my shiny new Rouge de Garance Gustave papers and as they feature architectural elements of the Eiffel Tower and this photo has the Eiffel Tower in it - small, but it's there - I had to go for this.

Then I went a little Eiffel Tower crazy! Used a Prima mask to add a little Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) tower to the left side, although it doesn't show up well in real life, let alone this photo and also a little piece of the Parisian ephemera that comes with the K&Co Maison paper pad.

It's very unlike me to mix Paper Companies on on layout. I do try, but I have a habit of keeping them together, so mixing K&Co with Rouge de Garance is quite startling!

Catch Up - Koln 2007

Our favourite place to eat near the Rhine. It had fabulous food (mmm, sausages and sauerkraut!) and beautiful beer. Rather than finding a new place to go each night, we just kept going back there - and why not?!

Updating the Blog - New York

I've been back through the last 100 posts adding on labels and I can now see how many layouts I've left off of here. I seem to have gone through phases of posting nothing but digital layouts and then nothing but challenges. However, my Photobucket is full of paper layouts that I've done and then not put up anywhere. Well, perhaps they're tucked away on my UKS gallery, but that fills up and has to be pruned. So. Now and again I'm going to do some posts of layouts from the past. Now I have labels enabled I can keep track of them.

So, I'm starting off with layouts about my trip to New York

A UKS weekly challenge. I think this might have been something to do with not using patterned paper and using stars.

Casa Battlo

Made this for the Scrummy Stash Cafe's latest challenge. The challenge was to come up with a different way to do journalling. Mine is written round the buttony-flowery things.

Hamlet

Another week, another entry for the Scrummy Stash Cafe! This was a challenge to use up your scraps - although, having cut scraps from scraps I now have even more scraps... ah well.

I'm well aware that this sculpture doesn't really scream "Hamlet!" I scrapped the Midsummer Night's Dream sculpture back in August and that was a bit more obvious. Just the Macbeth one to do now.

Nutmeg

Layout for the latest Samm's Sketch Challenge at the Scrummy Stash Cafe. I had to flip the sketch because it looked better with the way Nutmeg was facing!

Created this layout for the latest challenge on the Scrummy Stash Cafe Blog - use chipboard! This has a chipboard swirl and some chipboard buttons.


The picture was taken way back in 2003 on a trip to Venice with some friends. At the time I didn't even make up photo albums, so this picture has just been filed away in a box, unused, never looked at. So I'm planning on taking a bunch of shots from this trip and making up some layouts. Today I have also made this:
