I love stickers. I have lots of them. When I was little I used to collect them, especially fruit stickers, they were fun. Somehow, though, I just don't seem to use them enough on my layouts, so this was the perfect challenge. In fact, I decided to abandon patterned paper altogether and just use stickers - with a bit of background misting that looks much better in real life, it's very shiny and glimmery!
Some of the stickers are backed onto card and then cut out to make them easier to work with and to layer. I've managed to include:

The journalling says that Adam is seven days old and we're heading out on our first trip in the pram - to the voting booths!
Well, I'm still busily finishing off the Explore Prompts, but found some time on Sunday to do a couple of Challenge layouts. Much easier now that my Husband is back from the States and can keep an eye on Baby. Both very happy to be back together. :)
I started with the Grid challenge. I've never been very good at multiple photo layouts, but these days I'm trying to get as much scrapped as I can. The photos of Baby just keep multiplying, my time keeps decreasing and I still haven't scrapped huge chunks of my past that keep slipping further into the past
So I decided that the grid would be photos and the papers would be The Thrift Shop by October Afternoon, because they've been calling me for a while now to play with them again. The first thing I saw was this:
It's already in a grid and mine was half used, so I thought I'd pop out the remaining cards and use them on a layout with cut down photos. The backs of the journalling cards are all patterned paper and I figured I'd be more likely to use them as plain shapes than journalling cards. However, when the cards were all removed, I was left with a negative space that looked like a bunch of little photo frames with a small border of pattern around each one.
I abandoned the original plan and did this instead:
The tartan paper is from October Afternoon's Road Map collection, but the rest of it is The Thrift Shop. Very happy that I managed to use the leftover sheet rather than throwing it away. I'll make sure I keep an eye on all other negative spaces produced by popping out diecuts in the future.
I chose to make a layout with the map circle embellishments I made. Although I do scrap myself, I tend to do it with other people in the shot, so I made sure that I used a photo of just myself - a self portrait, in fact! Unless you think I'm not alone because "Frankie the Bump" is also in the picture.
Still having issues creating straight photos, no matter how hard I line up the camera!The only summer themed papers I had were the thin substandard AC ones, so I used them despite being a paper snob! They aren't so bad as long as you layer them up and make the page heavier. I even managed to throw in a little October Afternoon and Echo Park, so not all bad!
The criteria this week are as follows:5 points for including blue - plenty of that!10 points for Summer themed photo - taken at Summer School in 2009, our last day and a visit to Rumbling Kern.5 points for journalling - check10 points for a home made embellishment - I made a flower / circular thingy, not entirely sure what to call it!

This is Melman back in November when we went to London to meet up with Susi and Maria. We went on the London Eye. I nearly cut into a gorgeous sheet of October Afternoon - Thrift Shop for this, but then I remembered that I had a map of London that I'd saved for scrapping purposes. So I glued the map to some cardstock to stiffen it up, making sure the South Bank was exposed so I could point to the London Eye.This week we had to add flowers. Not the most floral layout in the world, so I punched some flowers from the road names on the back of the map.When I was making the layout I forgot what day we'd been to London and meant to go back and fix that before taking the photo, I see now that I forgot!
I've been stroking this paper for a while, but it was time to take the craft knife to it.
Two photos stuck together so that we're sat side by side on the train with the Giraffe in the middle! At the last minute I remembered to stick the ticket onto the layout. I'm very good at keeping stuff and thinking "when I scrap this event I'll use this ephemera" and then forgetting all about it. I have loads of bits in folders, but all the good pictures have been scrapped. :( Still, this time, I remembered!I'm about three weeks pregnant at this point and paranoid about everything, but the sickness has yet to attack. I look happy rather than queasy! 
In Bath on December 27th. All the shops we wanted to see were still closed after Christmas, so we ended up just having a nice lunch in Cafe Rene. At least, it used to be called Cafe Rene and isn't anymore. Can't think of its proper name!Both are very loosely based on layouts in the first PageMaps book.
This time the Creative Craft World challenge was for black, white and silver. I thought that would count me out, as I didn't think I had any silver, but it's amazing what you can do with acrylic paint, glossy accents and silver Pixee Stix!

Ex-yellow BoBunny chipboard swirls, jazzed up with paint, GA and Pink Paislee's Pixee Stix. I've never tried that technique before and now I want to sprinkle glitter on all my chipboard!
Here's Melman holding the umbrella for us when we got so wet in the grounds of Pollockshaws Country Park. He's such a helpful giraffe! I've used some of the giraffe print ribbon that he got for me from Michael's last week. 
More layering practice!I've started following Christine Middlecamp who is a genius at layering (not to mention on the DT for one of my favourite paper ranges, Crate Paper) and am especially impressed with this: Embellished Paper Doily. I have them all tagged in Delicious to read and study later.John brought a Somerset Studio magazine back from the States and that is full of inspiring things. Makes me want to get a proper journal and start an Art Journal properly rather than just messing around at it.
This month I had "Scraplift from a Teamie's Gallery" - so I lifted from Maria. 
I decided to scrap the "wonderful" chandelier that adorned one of the ceilings at the Retreat back in March! The amazingly freaky thing.
I did these two layouts last month when I thought I'd see if I really was a Paper Snob! I made a layout using some cheap American Crafts products that I bought from the home store round the corner. Now, don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of what AC does, enjoy their Remarks stickers, cardstock, Thickers, Flair, blooms, buttons etc. On the other hand, I tend to not like their papers. Maybe it's the design, or the colours.Until I bought this cheap kit I hadn't realised that AC seem to have two types of paper. Thicker, double-sided papers and much thinner single-sided papers. They also must do a slightly inferior type of alpha as well. I made this first layout mainly using the bits that came in the kit. There were some odd photo matts in bizarre shiny card, as well as the thin papers, and non-sticky alphas. I had to re-glue the title down twice because it wouldn't stick.
There was nothing wrong with the Flair or Remarks, but in the end, I wasn't happy with this layout. So I thought I would scraplift myself and use some papers that I love with all my Paper Snobby Heart - October Afternoon's Thrift Shop - and see if what I came up with was something I preferred.
To be honest. I'm not entirely sure which one I prefer. I think I like them both. I suspect I chose the wrong subject matter for the second one. When I saw that old London map paper, I couldn't wait to use it, but the only pictures I had of London were these few of Alex, which I took at the British Musuem (circled on the paper!) on my iPhone.Of course, as it turns out, the second layout uses AC Thickers in both the title and in some of the chipboard embellishments!I think I still am a Paper Snob, I do prefer working with thicker, double sided papers with gorgeous prints, but I know I can use the other sort as well.
Now I'm back from my hols I can finally get back into doing the Twists each week.I;m trying to do more layouts at sizes other than the standard 12x12 and I have a shiny new 8x8 album to fill, so here's one in 8x8:
The Twist this week is 'acrylic' so I chose to use bits of acrylic paint.I'm currently on a crazy stamping / inking kick, so the background paper is an piece of cardstock in a garish blue. At least, it was before I covered it in bits of old ripped up book paper and ink (then some more layers of book and ink). The rest of the papers are all October Afternoon: Thrift Shop, in fact, the paper with the title on used to be bright yellow, but I'm a Crazy Inker!This is John (and Melman the Midget Giraffe) in Nottingham meeting Robin Hood.
I loved this sketch and it worked really nicely with an 8.5 x 11 layout.
This is one of the Oldest Inns in Nottingham - the twist was for "old", so I hope 1240 is old enough!I love October Afternoon. This Thrift Shop is so beautiful.
I doubled up with this layout. It's partly Twisted #46 and partly Gutter Girlz #36. I started it with the Twist of "touch":
You see, I'm being touched by Max Grodenchik who plays Rom in Deep Space Nine. Eventually the character of Rom becomes Grand Nagus of Ferenginar and everyone knows that the Ferengi are motivated by profit. Max wrote something on the photo about profit, so I can only hope that the touch of the Grand Nagus does, indeed, help me to gain profit. Even though I'm not only a small-lobed female, but also a hew-man...It was then that I realised that actually there was my Gutter Girlz entry - I'm a Geek and it's no secret, everyone knows and I don't care that they know it!
This week was a layout for Sketchy Thursdays and for Who's That Girl. You should be able to read from the picture what my Right Now points are!
I've come to realise that I don't have many storage spaces for my 12x12s so I've decided to make a set of 8x8s as I actually have a spare album for them! Besides, I'm still having a good time stroking my October Afternoon Thrift Shop (yum yum)
Obviously, however, I'm still taking pictures of my layouts perched on the radiator.
